art in my house

I rearranged and framed some art that I've had for a while. I love changing around the art in my house, it's a simple way to make a space feel fresh without too much trouble. Starting from the top there is a Charley Harper print, two botanical prints that I got at a market in London, a wonderful silkscreen of a torso that I got in NYC last year, one of my own fabric pieces, on my mantle there is a new (to me) piece by local artist blackcattips, some thrifted work and one tiny pink painting by me.

Show at Hodgepodge

I have a bunch of my art up at Hodgepodge coffee house here in Atlanta. If you haven't gone, please do! It will be up for the month of February.

pretty enough?

The artifice of female expression when in public. You may be hearing that word a lot from me now. Get excited.

done?

Finally took a semi-decent photo of this piece. I keep editing it, though, so there's no telling if it's really truly done or not. I think I still may want it to be even more busy/gross/appealing/textured. I dunno.

progress

Been working more on this painting and I'm really just not satisfied with it. I can't tell if I made it any better or worse by the addition of more faces. Thoughts?

quick study

I also did a quick self portrait the other day to get back in the oil painting groove, while it's not great or anything, here it is.

back to it!

It has been an embarrassingly long time since I've worked with oils and since I've worked in my studio space. In fact I haven't ever used the "studio" space in my house. Sadly enough I often call it the poo room since that's where the litter box lives, and because there is no desk I usually just grab what I need and work on the dining room table. But today I decided to get productive and reworked a painting I wasn't all that enthusiastic about, I think it is much improved but since it's been a long while I would really love feedback- so please let me know what you think!

details

I never feel like photos really represent art very well, especially in terms of showing texture, and boy do I love texture. So here are some detail shots!

redo

These are pieces I believe I have put up before, but I took some new photos. I think they look better with a white background.

details

The first image is an old monoprint that I had yet to photograph and the other images are fairly new watercolors. I think I should do more of the crazy pattern ones.
If you like my work enough to want it in your home, please let me know (hevan.leggoe@gmail.com) I would be delighted to work out a sale. Unfortunately I have not worked out a website to purchase things from yet, but I will! I'm really not sure what the best option is, big cartel? etsy? Etsy honestly makes me nervous because I feel like people may rip off my work and sell their own versions since I have seen that happen multiple times. If you have advice, please share!

about time

Well I finally got out my oils last week. I have been resisting a bit because I no longer have a studio since I'm not in school anymore which means setting up in the living room. Which also means that I have to promptly clean up after (no fun.) I did these two pretty darn fast and I think I may rework them a little, but generally I am happy. Taking pictures on a red wall was probably not the best plan, but surely you will forgive me.
