art in my house

I rearranged and framed some art that I've had for a while. I love changing around the art in my house, it's a simple way to make a space feel fresh without too much trouble. Starting from the top there is a Charley Harper print, two botanical prints that I got at a market in London, a wonderful silkscreen of a torso that I got in NYC last year, one of my own fabric pieces, on my mantle there is a new (to me) piece by local artist blackcattips, some thrifted work and one tiny pink painting by me.

I got a new cat and named him Sesame, and it seems he and Onion are meant for each other.

I got a new tattoo! Based off the above illustration by Charley Harper. Really I want every one of the bugs on that page so that might have to happen at some point.

I'm just gonna continue on this gif kick since I seem to have stumbled upon some really awesome ones. Simon Landrein is the illustrator. Kinda dirty, kinda awesome.

These GIFs by Julian Glander are blowing my mind. Also I figured out how to add GIFs to my blog! Maybe someday I will catch up with everyone else's technological abilities.

tunes for walking

So when I walk to work in the morning I love to sing along to my music, it's not a very populated path and I get it out of my system before I am surrounded by coworkers who may not enjoy my singing as much as I do. When I really want to (pretend to) belt it out, it's Neko Case all the way. She is the coolest chick around. I saw her live for the first time and she was positively fantastic and endearing and bad ass. Her new album is great, you should give it a listen.

This is one of those songs that makes me want to dance and feel like I'm cooler than I am. It gets me pumped and prepared for work.

I listen to Rilo Kiley ridiculously a lot. In fact, all Jenny Lewis ventures are good with me. When I'm feeling angsty (which seems to be a lot these days), it's Jenny all the way. Rilo Kiley put out an album of never released tracks (Rkives) this year to the extreme happiness of obsessives such as myself.

These are all hand-me-downs from my grandfather, he went to school for architecture and while he didn't stick with it, apparently he kept many of his supplies and I find them incredibly lovely!

Sixty Six

You should all watch Sixty Six, it is a British coming of age tale that is both heart-breaking and hilarious. It is so fantastic that I had to take screen shots because of all the wonderful styling/sets/costumes! Seriously, go watch it. 

constant nostalgia

I'm always missing something/some place. This time last year I was in Ireland and it seems unfathomable that it has been that long. I miss the old house and the gorgeous grounds and the market chock full of the friendliest people selling the most beautiful food and the meals Rick would make from it. But not the cold and the damp.

Oh Wanda Jackson, she rocks my socks. I listen to her all the time and can't get enough. She positively exudes strength and sass, and we can't forget the fabulous fringe. That amazing voice of hers got Wanda famous when she was a teen, what a legend!

wreath!

This is my very first wreath, and I am quite proud of it! We didn't have any wire or really anything besides linen string, so that is all I used (there is no backing.) I know it looks quite christmas-y, I will attempt to make more "fall" decor but it seems they skip over some of the cliche fall decor here because of course there is no Thanksgiving. In fact Limerick City has already put up Christmas decorations, it's a bit silly.

London

I went to London for a few days and had a lovely time going to some museums (you HAVE to go to the Somerset House and see the Tim Walker show if you have the chance!) I also met up with an old friend and got to wander with her, we mainly went to some markets and just walked, it was great!
