Valentine's

Ugh, I've been slacking with this blog and art making in general. My new life still hasn't found a great rhythm yet in terms of doing other stuff besides working and watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I need to work on that, though part of the problem is that I haven't move in to my own space yet, so I don't have basically any of my belongings besides clothes and paint. Two of my favorite things, but sometimes not enough. Anyways, here are some cards I made and sent to my special Valentine's.

Here are the three versions of the first plate I did at Limerick Printmakers. The first two I watercolored, the last is just the black ink, and what I did the edition in.

I made a calendar! With only the use of a computer! This project is supposed to be a present for my mama, so don't go telling her, BUT if you want one please please let me know. If you email me (hevan.leggoe@gmail.com) then I can get an idea of how many I need to get printed and I can set up a payment option online. They will be printed 11x 14 cardstock paper, and cost $25 (plus shipping if need be.) Everyone knows the go-to Christmas present is a calendar, so you should get one from me, not walmart. Also I am not back in America until the 12th so they would get shipped earliest the 14th or so.
I have now set up a paypal option (it is on the upper right hand side of the blog) so if you would like to buy, go ahead! If you are located in Tallahassee, no need to use paypal, we can do the transaction in person. that time of year

Well as many of you know, I really like Christmas time. Like a lot, a whole lot. So I actually made these christmas designs a few weeks ago, however ashamed I am to admit it. I am also planning a fabulous Christmas party with a friend that I am super excited about, and really I just can't wait to see my buddies and participate in holiday mischief.

printing again

Well I became a member of the Limerick Printmaker's Studio while I am here in Ireland. It is a great space with great people. the only problem is me not having great ideas to make prints from. I need to figure that out fast, though, since I am only here one more month! This is the only print I have done so far (drypoint) and these couple didn't come out well, so I decided to try and rescue them with some hand coloring and ink.

I made this to submit to the desktop wallpaper contest on designlovefest, one of my favorite blogs, but alas! I did not win. So if you want to use them, go for it! Just remember they are my original designs, so don't try to put your name on them or use them for profit etc. And let me know what you think, I like feedback.

home improvement

The trade-off of me being here in Ireland is that I work on the house, which fine by me! I am doing a range of tasks from organizing books to gardening to rearranging furniture to telling them what they should buy and even getting to paint some stuff. I really enjoy getting to add these mini mural/wall decorations around the house. These two are the only ones I have done so far, in addition to the liquor cabinet, but I need to re-photograph it. I would love to do this kind of thing in other people's homes. Maybe a future business idea?

A little sketchbook action going on. Picture those moths tattooed as part of a sleeve, oh so tempting. I wouldn't mind those flowers tattooed on me, either.

gouache

I haven't used gouache since I was required to in color studies class, but I managed to find my old set and decided to give them a try. I'm liking it a lot in terms of being able to really layer because of how opaque the colors can be. The first illustration is really fan art. I just read Stardust by Neil Gaiman again, or rather the first time I listened to Neil Gaiman read it on book tape (which I highly recommend,) it's a pretty quick read and sooo good. The other illustrations are just randomness and the last one is actually a watercolor.

The first image is an old monoprint that I had yet to photograph and the other images are fairly new watercolors. I think I should do more of the crazy pattern ones.
If you like my work enough to want it in your home, please let me know (hevan.leggoe@gmail.com) I would be delighted to work out a sale. Unfortunately I have not worked out a website to purchase things from yet, but I will! I'm really not sure what the best option is, big cartel? etsy? Etsy honestly makes me nervous because I feel like people may rip off my work and sell their own versions since I have seen that happen multiple times. If you have advice, please share!
