So my Great Aunt Gay has the most amazing house. Every year my family meets here for Thanksgiving and every year I explore her hone and all it's wonders. When I was younger I slept in the attic, which was the most magical place, I wouldn't even mind staying inside all day looking in all the nooks and crannies. Looking back, it was probably a bit nosy of me to look through all of my Aunt's things without permission, but I don't think she would mind. Her husband ran a business making "springles" aka those wire flowers at the bottom, as well as wreaths and angels etc, of which we have many that are brought out for Christmas. He made them in the attic so there are still a lot around, as well as things from her life travels, her sewing corner, things from her girls' childhood and other treasures. Not only do I love her house, but Aunt Gay is probably one of the most interesting people I know, and I feel bad that I don't know much about her. She was in the Peace Corps, traveled extensively, adopted her children and started an orphanage. Also, She is over 90 and still working as a realtor and local activist/butt kicker. I hope I can be that awesome some day.
These pictures are from my most recent visit on the Fourth of July, and my little cousins were running up and down from the attic and finding treasures just like I did and I must say I was a bit jealous. Luckily, I have no shame and had already gone up to the attic to do my yearly inspection. So take that adulthood!
