seminar

For my painting seminar class I am working a lot smaller and trying to incorporate not only paintings, but embroidery and possibly quilting and something involving fake flowers. Notice I said trying, I don't think I am there yet. Next time I am going to finish the painting first, before working on the embroidery so that I can base it off the composition. The embroidery takes soo long using that satin stitch, but the time passes quickly when doing it. Plus I watch billions of movies while I embroider.

Well hopefully I am going to get even better at process photos, I still forgot to take one of the first stage. For this piece I worked from a photo I took of one of my favorite Florida scenes and abstracted it through pattern. Once again I reworked it after my critique, and this is more where I see my paintings this semester going rather than the previous one with the window. For the next one, though I want to push the paint even farther and let the imagery get more distorted.

landscape

My painting 5 class focuses on landscape and still life, and the use of windows. I took that pretty literal for this first assignment and I wasn't too pleased with the results so after my critique I reworked it. Unfortunately I was not smart enough to take a "before" picture, so you will just have to trust me that it changed a lot.

over christmas...

I wanted to be at least slightly productive while I was at home for the holiday, and so I started quilting and making necklaces.
