bead addict

I can't stop making necklaces. Except that I really need more beads and there isn't anywhere in Tally to get them. I literally drove to every Goodwill store in town the other day trying to find necklaces to repurpose. Out of about 5 stores I found 4 necklaces, it was rather disappointing. But I was extra excited when I found those crazy multi colored beads at a vintage shop (3rd necklace.) Now I need to sell them or my jewelry box is going to explode.

dots

So I did piles of these kinds of abstract watercolors last year. I have so much fun making them, playing with color and shape simply. I framed a whole bunch of them and they sold amazingly well at the christmas bazaar. These ones just got framed and will be on view and for sale in some Tallahassee home(s) for an open house event. Hopefully they will sell, cuz frames sure are expensive.

more necklaces!

I redid the red necklace, I hadn't made enough strands and I didn't like shade of blue I used before. Now I really like it, and I used one of my metal pieces, too. The other one is super cute, it is nice and long and I'm really happy with the color combination. It was a nice way to spend the day watching Luther and beading. Kind of an odd combo, but it works for me.

creatures

I've been felting for quite a while. I took a class at a place here in Tallahassee, Wooly Bully, back in high school. I love that I can make the felt do exactly what I want, plus they carry so many great colors that I always end up spending forever making decisions on what to use. I made a bunch of these critters for my college holiday bazaar each year, and they sold like hot cakes. I need to make new ones to try and sell them here in town.

quilted

These are some of my last pieces from my final semester. The top one was half of my BFA show. The process is pretty involved, I machine sew them together first, then gesso the areas I want to paint later, then embroider, then oil paint, then stretch it over a panel that I usually tone so slight color shows through. I think I might have described this process before, if so sorry you had to suffer through it again.

Here are some more silly looking people, I hope you enjoy them.

calligraphy

I suddenly had the urge to get out the old pen & ink, here are some results. I really enjoy doing it, but being that I don't usually work with text, I don't know what kind of things to make. Preferably some one will see it and realize they need some hand done calligraphy in their life and hire me to do some invitations or something.

new illustrations

During my visit to Memphis I decided to try my hand at some more fully developed illustrations, I did a few more that I will upload later when the computer stops being belligerent. Feedback, pretty please!

little late

I guess I neglected posting new work for a while. This stuff is from before I graduated, I need to photograph them better as always.

necklaces

The last year or so I've been enjoying making necklaces, not my usual thing, but it's a fun time consumer. I use some super old beads from my grandma, vintage necklaces I buy for the beads and new beads from wherever. Often times I have more fun making them than with the finished product. They never seem to come out perfect. But that's okay. I haven't photographed a lot of them, I'll have to get on that. And a few of them I sold over christmas. Anyways, these are two I made today. Don't know why that first one isn't right-side-up, but you get the idea.
