I went to a figure drawing open studio at Eyedrum here in Atlanta a week ago. I hadn't done something like it in so so long, it felt good and a little scary. Obviously I managed to improve by the end, which is as much as I can hope for.

These are all hand-me-downs from my grandfather, he went to school for architecture and while he didn't stick with it, apparently he kept many of his supplies and I find them incredibly lovely!

forgetful

Urgh I always forget that I should be drawing/painting/doodling/memorializing the lovely flowers I take home. But sometimes it's so fun being lazy.

paper

I definitely find the size and quality of the paper in my sketchbook affects how often I want to work in it. And this one is honestly is really shitty. It's basically made of the construction paper we all used as kids, so I'm trying to do collage in it so that I won't be irritated by drawing on the terrible terrible paper. 

doodles

These aren't all that impressive or anything, but I really need to post more on here so I'm hoping it will coerce me to do more in my sketchbook. Especially so that I actually have nice things to share. 

birds

Every day as the sun is almost done going down the crows here gather in huge groups and swirl around the sky. They land in the trees briefly and then move on, making a lot of noise, too. I've been desperately trying to capture this occurrence, that first picture is the best one I could get, if you look closely you can tell they are in the trees and all the smudges in the sky are birds as well. I decided to make a print based off this, so here are some of the results. I printed it in a few different color combos just for funsies. I so rarely finish an entire sketchbook, cover to cover. It's a symptom of being an art student and having to keep them for classes which means I filled them with crap, and stopped as soon as the class was over. And maybe I usually use books that are too big and thus daunting. This little one was perfect, portable and good heavy paper fit for watercolors. Now if only I could figure out where I purchased it.
