I made this ridiculously obnoxiously pink, odd arrangement because I was having people over. Really I just wanted an excuse to buy those hot pink carnations because they get a bad rap, but carnations can be pretty awesome sometimes.

art in my house

I rearranged and framed some art that I've had for a while. I love changing around the art in my house, it's a simple way to make a space feel fresh without too much trouble. Starting from the top there is a Charley Harper print, two botanical prints that I got at a market in London, a wonderful silkscreen of a torso that I got in NYC last year, one of my own fabric pieces, on my mantle there is a new (to me) piece by local artist blackcattips, some thrifted work and one tiny pink painting by me.

I got my hands on a nicer camera than my own for a few days so I snapped a few pictures around the house.

I got these little babies over a month ago and they are still going strong. My friend and co-worker gave me these adorable faceted bud vases that are ideal for holding leftover blooms from the week. (Dianthus and Leucadendron pictured)

I got a new cat and named him Sesame, and it seems he and Onion are meant for each other.

I've always wanted a poster that includes seasonal fruits and veggies, so I finally made one. 

Holiday

So I've had this entire week off and while I slacked on the blog posting, I've actually been up to a lot! I visited with an old friend, built shelves for a local art center, made some new necklaces, cleaned the house, and slept a whole lot- boy does it feel good. Having new things to look forward to in daily life is important, a new one for me will posting with I SPY ATL, a new site dedicated to local goodies and I will be contributing recipe posts! I already feel more inspired to make delicious and beautiful things for sharing. Here is my first post.

I found a couple new (to me) colored wine glasses/goblets/whatever they should be called this weekend. The lighter blue one and the tiny red one came from my grandmother, so now that I have four, I'm pretty sure I need to continue collecting, right? 

couch redo!

My wonderful mother paid me a visit recently and this was what we worked on basically the entire time. I loved my couch before, but if you look closely at the picture, you can see my cats also loved it as their scratching post. I think they have an affinity for pleather substances. So I managed to find enough fabric in my stash which meant the only thing I spent money on for this project was the foam for new cushions because the old ones were hard and it was not exactly an appealing place to put you butt. We made the cushions double sided partly because I didn't have enough fabric and partly because why not? So little by little my house is getting more colorful/crazy/kitschy.
